Senior Full Stack Engineer - Growth, Front-end Focus

🚀 About the role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong emphasis on front-end development and experience in commercial environments. You will transform marketing campaigns, pricing experiments, or new product launches into fast and dependable user experiences, and then assess their effectiveness.

Your primary responsibility will be zoe.com and our acquisition and conversion journeys, covering landing pages, checkout, sign-up, and product launches for both app subscriptions and physical products. The majority of your work will involve TypeScript, React, and Next.js, but you will also contribute to backend services (Kotlin or Python) when features require backend support.

This is a senior-level individual contributor position. We are looking for someone who can work independently, make well-informed decisions on their own, and fully own their deliverables.

👥 About the Team

You will become part of ZOE’s Growth team, which is responsible for how users find, learn about, and join us. Growth operates at the intersection of engineering and the commercial side of the company. We collaborate closely with marketing, CRM, product, design, and analytics to turn concepts into experiments and experiments into tangible outcomes.

Our broader Engineering department is distributed throughout the UK and EU, with expertise in web, mobile, and backend engineering, as well as machine learning, data science, and analytics. 🎯 What you’ll be doing

• Taking ownership of growth projects from inception with commercial partners, through technical implementation, to evaluating outcomes.
• Collaborating with commercial teams: working daily with marketing, CRM, and product to deliver campaigns, launches, and acquisition flows, often under tight and business-critical timelines.
• Running experiments: designing, launching, and evaluating A/B tests with our analysts, then using the findings to inform future development.
• Building a fast, high-converting zoe.com: ensuring web performance, accessibility, and conversion rates are optimized across key flows such as landing pages, sign-up, and checkout.
• Adjusting to shifting priorities: making practical trade-offs when plans change, and helping the team decide what to build, postpone, or drop.
• Working across the stack: designing APIs and updating backend systems in Kotlin or Python as needed for growth features.
• Contributing to the design system: expanding our shared component library to enable rapid and consistent feature delivery.
• Shipping continuously: deploying to production daily, sometimes multiple times a day, with robust testing and monitoring in place.

🧠 We think you’d be great if you…

• Bring 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong front-end background.
• Have in-depth experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, and know how to create fast, accessible, and well-tested web applications.
• Have worked closely with commercial teams like marketing, growth, sales, or CRM, and enjoy translating business objectives into product outcomes.
• Possess hands-on experience with experimentation and analytics, such as A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, or funnel analysis.
• Operate independently: you take charge of ambiguous challenges, make decisions with minimal direction, and keep stakeholders updated.
• Have practical knowledge of a backend language (such as Python, Kotlin, or Java) and are comfortable making backend modifications.
• Have experience in a startup or scale-up setting and can handle a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.

✨ Nice to have

• Familiarity with Optimizely or other experimentation platforms
• Background in e-commerce, subscriptions, or direct-to-consumer growth
• Experience building or contributing to a design system
• Experience with React Native, or an interest in growth across both web and mobile platforms
• Production experience with Kotlin or Python

🌍 Where and how we work

• This is a permanent, full-time employment opportunity. We are not considering B2B, freelance, or contractor roles.
• Fully remote, open to applicants located in the UK and EU countries with permanent work and residency rights. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
• We operate across UK and Central European time zones, with core hours for collaboration. We meet in person once per quarter for team offsites at our London office, and once annually for a company-wide retreat.
